A jewel set on the coast of Taormina, the pearl of the Mediterranean as the German baron Wilhelm von Gloeden called it.
In front of the coast of Taormina, immersed in the crystal clear waters of the Ionian Sea, stands Isola Bella, a small islet of rare beauty.
A nature reserve, the island boasts lush vegetation, cliffs overlooking the sea and a white pebble beach lapped by turquoise waters.
Donated by Ferdinand I of Bourbon to the mayor of Taormina Ferdinando Ciprioti, subsequently purchased by the philanthropist Florence Trevelyan who enhanced it thanks to the construction of a house and the planting of rare and sought-after shrubs and non-native species.
Subsequently sold by the nephew of the latter to the Bosurgi family, it was confiscated following the bankruptcy of the company, precisely in 1984 the Sicily Region declared it a monument of historical and artistic interest of particular value as an «isolated example of uniqueness in terms of naturalistic value , historical and cultural", subjecting it to all protection constraints and becoming a nature reserve in 1998.
The island is a true paradise for sea lovers.
The crystal clear waters and seabeds rich in marine fauna make it ideal for snorkeling and diving.
The white pebble beach, equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, offers priceless relaxation.
Isola Bella is one of the most renowned tourist attractions in Sicily.
Every year, thousands of visitors from all over the world reach the island to admire its beauty and immerse themselves in its magical atmosphere.
Isola Bella is a precious heritage that must be protected and enhanced, it is our duty to safeguard this precious jewel and hand it over intact to future generations.
